LingPong Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the LingPong app ("LingPong", "we", "us") collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. It applies to the LingPong Android app (package com.lingpong.app) and the website lingpong.web.app.

1. Data we collect

Data you give us

• Account details: your name and email address, and a password. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never stored by us in readable form.
• Profile: your username, display name, profile photo and any bio or other details you add.
• Content you post: posts, photos, captions, comments and likes.
• Messages: chat messages and photos you send to other users.
• Social activity: the accounts you follow, who follows you, accounts you block, and reports you submit about other users.

Data collected automatically

• Device push token: a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can send you notifications (for example new messages or followers). It is removed when you sign out.
• Basic technical data: our service providers may process technical information such as IP address and device type when the app connects to their servers, as needed to operate and secure the service.

Photos and camera: LingPong only accesses your camera or photo library when you choose a photo to upload. We do not scan or upload anything else from your device.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, call logs or SMS. LingPong does not show ads and does not use advertising identifiers.

2. How we use your data

• To create and secure your account and verify your email.
• To show your profile and posts and deliver your messages.
• To send notifications you have not turned off.
• To keep LingPong safe: review reports, enforce our rules, and block abusive accounts.
• To fix problems and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

3. Who can see your data

• Other users: your name, username, profile photo, bio, posts, follower and following lists are visible to other LingPong users. Chat messages are visible to the people in that conversation.
• Shared links: if you share a post link (lingpong.web.app/p/…), anyone with the link can open it.
• Uploaded photos are stored at hard-to-guess web addresses. Anyone who has a photo's exact address can view it.
• Our moderators can see reported accounts and content to handle reports.

4. Service providers we share data with

We use the following providers to run LingPong. They process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore database, Cloud Messaging, Hosting) — Firebase privacy information.
• Supabase (photo storage) — Supabase privacy policy.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.

5. Security

Data is sent between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to stored data is restricted by security rules so users can only change their own data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your own posts and photos at any time in the app.

You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time — see how to delete your LingPong account. We delete your account, profile, posts, photos, follows and push tokens within 30 days of a verified request. Messages you sent may remain visible to the people you sent them to, and we may keep limited records where required by law or to deal with reports of abuse.

7. Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile and delete your content in the app.
• Turn off notifications in your device settings.
• Block or report other users.
• Request a copy, correction or deletion of your data by contacting us.

8. Children

LingPong is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. See our Child Safety Standards for what is prohibited and how to report concerns, including from inside the app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and tell you in the app if the changes are significant.
